It is preferable that the soil does not contain much organic material, such as peat moss and that the plant is not fertilized with heavy nitrogen as this can cause an explosion of soft, flabby growth that can make the plant prone to bacterial rots. Decomposed granite is often an excellent media as it has many trace minerals and is similar to the South African quartz fields where these and others of the "Stone Mimicry" are found growing. Amazingly versatile

Fun! It is really beautiful and easy to use. It is just about as big as your elbow to your fingers. It is great for necklaces and even bracelets and rings! It doesn’t shake unless you hang heavy necklaces on it. It is really stable otherwise though! It’s really easy to hang on the hook. If you have a clasp necklace, all you need to do is clasp it and put it on the stand. I’m amazed by the different types of jewelry you can put on, you can even put earrings on there but they might get lost so I don’t. Other than that so awesome!

Little smaller in person than I expected but the quality is very nice and the tray looks great on the coffee table. It holds eyeglasses, TV remote and other items I didn't want possibly scratching the table. It looks in person just like the photos.
